It's the little things in life...

My daughter was sitting at breakfast this morning, eating her waffles in her purple princess nightgown and comes out with, "What foods are white?" Now, at 830 on a sunny Summer Friday, I shouldn't be answering questions like that. They require TOO MUCH THOUGHT. So I rattled off a few from the top of my head: mashed potatoes, cauliflwer, some beans, pasta. She says, "No, the stuff that I like. What is white that I like?" FINALLY! An easy question! I said, "Pasta." OK. We're good. I thought. "What's green that I like?" Phew! Another easy one. "Broccoli, green beans, basil." My son chimes in: "the water gun on the fridge is green!" But you can't eat it...."But it's green..." but you can't eat it. "But It's green." OK you win. No sense arguing with a 2 year old about a non-edible water gun.
When she was finished with her breakfast, she put her plate and orange juice cup on the counter and went in to get dressed. She came out SPOTTED! picture to follow...
I tell you...it's the little things like edible white and green foods that make my world go round....

Another Pleasant Valley Sunday

A busy day in the Household of Paul. Laundry. Grocery shoppng. General fixing up. Kids napping (ahhh the life of a child). More things to do on this lovely day. More laundry. Prepare party bags for the next few TS parties. Lesson plans. Create tests. Tend to the gardens and beds.
I'm amazed at the energy my children have. It seems boudless, and I often wonder if I were like them at their age. I remember playing in the street until the streetlights came on, and then congregating on someone's front lawn until moms and dads started calling us home. My kids won't have that privilege. Too dangerous. I'm too nervous to let them do that.
I'm amazed at how much they know already. At 2 & 4, they sing complete songs (not necessarily with the right words...) in time with the music. Counting. Spelling. Reading. Real conversations (which I'm still gobsmacked by with my 2 year old. When did he learn so many words?) Gymnastic stunts. Dance routines. Bike riding. Monkey bar hanging. More love than I can handle. And that's good.
Life is good.

Just rambling...

Although I have a blog over there> http://www.imateacher.spaces.live.com/ I figured I start one here, since one can never have enough blogs, right? It's a rainy Saturday morning and fighting the urge to stay in my pjs all day. Unfortunately, it's not an option, since the day is calling. This means gymnastics with Ky, baking Easter cookies with Ya (since they don't really care for hard boiled eggs, even if they come in pretty colors...), and figuring out something for dinner. Then there are the Easter gifts to prepare and desserts to make and baskets and eggs to fill and hide...
Guess i should be on my way...
